DEACON FAMILY

The church is currently in the process of nominating men to serve as deacons to meet our growing needs. We will be voting in September on new deacons with a ordination service to be planned for a Sunday afternoon in October.

I was born to a Christian family and raised on a small family farm.  After marriage to my wife, Karen, and graduation from college, I was working for the United State Department of Agriculture (USDA) in extreme northeast Missouri.  God placed us into a community of Christian friends, and it was here where I realized that being born into a Christian family wasn’t enough and that I needed to personally trust in Jesus as my Savior.  Karen and I then found ourselves in Fulton. Here we joined Southside Baptist Church. I participated in many ministries and committees: food drives, mission trips, Sunday School Teacher, Deacon Ministry, Nominating Committee, and Trustees.  I continued working with the USDA, both in Callaway County and in our State Office in Columbia.  I retired from full time employment after nearly 39 years in 2020.  Karen and I moved to New Bloomfield in 2015 and moved our membership to Dry Fork Baptist Church. Karen and I have a son Andrew and a daughter Sarah.

I came to know Christ at 10 years of age and was baptized shortly thereafter. Due to a split in our local church and the sudden death of my Sunday school teacher I began to have a difficult childhood as I lost my father at a young age. In my early 20s I became a single father for several years before I met my wife (Bridget). After we had our son Kaleb we became quite involved at Ashland Baptist Church taking on many of the administrative functions that were afforded me. I started as a treasurer, assistant moderator, moderator, joined the Deacon board and became its chairman for several years while volunteering with the monthly food drives and other various church activities. It was not until I began helping to teachthe children’s Awana program and vacation Bible school that I submitted to God's calling on my life.Soon after this revelation, I began teaching an adult life group and seeking opportunities to preach at every chance I could get. I began leading Bible studies at local retirementhomes around our area and registered as pulpit supply preacher through our local association. Not long after, I became commissioned to preach, an immediately blessing arose in the chance to preach at Carrington Baptist church. This opportunity was worthwhile for a new minister, and I offered to become their interim pastor while they continued their search for a permanent minister. After six months they agreed for me to become their bi-vocational shepherd, and Bridget and I accepted the position. After a year in this role,we decided to move to the Fulton area to become closer to our church family. Although we have since left Carrington, I still currently provide Bibles and counsel inmates in the nearby prisons. I continue volunteering with the Central Missouri Foster and Adoption Agency when possible. I work with Pastor Matt as a Ministry Leader with Capitol Ministries, as we conduct weekly Bible studies with the legislative assistants and representatives who work in the State Capitol, and I also co-coordinate the Community Call to Prayer for America events which gather together with other churches to pray for our countries religious values in the Capitol Rotunda the first Sunday of each month.
